Seems like everyone has been scraping the barrel for anything related to Halo 5, however the next Halo: Escalation's comic may shine some light into Halo 5's plot.

Comic Book Sources put the summary on what this comic will be about.
The Master Chief returns in “The Next 72 Hours: Part 1”! After defeating the Didact, John-117 joined the crew of Infinity . . . but why did he leave? The mystery begins here. Halo® lead writer Brian Reed (Amazing Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel) reveals the secret events that immediately follow the end of Halo 4.

Seems like it will give us a hint more at why Master Chief was rouging out in the desert but only time can tell since the comic hasn't been released. The comic will be on sale on July 23 which is well after E3 so if details are not released during E3 we have something to fall back on.
