- Microsoft says Good Bye to Xbox Live Gold paywalls

*Purchased some memberships, now working with freelance journalist to bring news even faster to you. We however cannot disclose most of our associated sources due to terms and agreements, please enjoy our articles.

As the console war races on PlayStation clearly has an advantage over Microsoft but now Microsoft is providing a console that does not come with Kinect and also will be lowering the Xbox One's price due to that reason. But that's not all Microsoft announced that they will no longer be tying in most apps to their gold membership. Previously apps like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu and even Internet Explorer used to require Xbox Live Gold to be able to use it online but now Xbox One offers these services without the requirement of Xbox live Gold

Although sure this is a nice thing that Microsoft is doing; it still doesn't immediately entail that customers are going to be rushing to buy Xbox one. Many of the issues that people are not aware of over the Xbox one is that it wasn't related to apps not being able to be used because of Xbox gold although changing this was significant. Probably the most beneficial thing they did was removing Kinect because it has clearly shown that the market doesn't want Kinect at least when it comes to raising an extra hundred dollars to the console.

Other sites like IGN say that Microsofts losing the battle especially the one with in the consoles and towards Apple, and that being more like their competitors will benefit. On the contrary what we believe is that Microsoft needs to do via console wise is that they need to provide more games for the Xbox one. As of now it does not show a reason for purchasing it; it lacks games and pretty much makes Xbox 360 or any other console look better and this also goes for the PlayStation 4. Sure great graphics are important but that's not everything, they still haven't proved why we should invest $400 on a console that has no games.

- New Xbox One update rolls out tonight with decent features

Friends Notifications
* = This means our sources for factual evidence, that's right we purchased some memberships, now working with freelance journalist to bring news even faster to you. We however cannot disclose most of our associated sources due to terms and agreements, please enjoy our articles.

Finally the monthly update rolls out tnoight, and while many of the features we see won't be "New", they are still some we need right now pretty bad. Some features we hope are more than just refinements are the ones coming for the Kinect since many of us are tired of yelling the same commands over and over at our TV.

In addition there will also be a progress bar for game save, Blu-ray support for 50Hz video content, controller and headset updates to ipmorve audio static and connectivity issues, and the option  to have your system update automatically from the Instant On state when new firmware is avilable.

According to Major Nelson, the April update includes these features:
  • Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.
  • Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This was one of the most frequently requested features, so we made it a priority to include it in this update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list.
  • Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to be fine-tuned for quality and reliability of Xbox One commands. For example, we've updated some of the gesture functionality to reduce false positives on non-hand objects triggering gesture commands.
  • Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements.
  • Blu-ray player supports 50 Hz video output for content recorded at 50 Hz. We'll also be updating the Blu-ray Player app in the coming days to round out these improvements.
  • Controller and headset adaptor firmware updates will reduce audio static and improve wireless connectivity.
  • Silent reboot after system updates and system update on demand now available. If your console is in Instant On mode, the update will happen automatically and return to standby upon completion. This means you won't need to power on your console after an update moving forward. If you want to take future updates when available without waiting for your console to do it on its own, we've added this option under system settings (below) and you'll be able to use it next update. It will only show as available when there is an update to take.

- Free-to-play coming to Xbox One?

* = means sources, which are available at the bottom. Click on the names to be redirected to the source.

Microsoft as of late has been curiously pushing more and more towards embracing free-to-play, with a few games coming on 360. While Sony has already fully embraced this model and is aggressively pushing more free-to-play games on their systems, many which are successful Steam games. However, now after the first few games on the 360 were very successful it seems like Microsoft is now increasing its investment in the area by hinting towards bringing free-to-play games on the Xbox One.

Asked on Twitter if Microsoft had news to share on free-to-play, Spencer said this. *

Although Microsoft says it was a success on free-to-play, it is hard for anyone to agree as well when they haven't disclosed the actively spending money or player engagement on these games.

- Microsoft looking for Xbox One Beta Testers?

According to Major Nelson, Microsoft is looking for Xbox One Users who are interested in trying out features ahead of the update releases.

Starting Today a select few of Xbox One users will receive an invitation to try out the new Xbox One updates before the worldwide release. Microsoft may be doing this because of the recent incident where an update rolled out giving users a black screen. Microsoft's main intention is most likely to fix some bugs from the update they plan to roll out which includes significant improvements to the multiplayer and party experiences. The feedback given by these select Xbox Live users will be put in a private forum and will help improve and set forth what will come in the worldwide update release.
