Yesterday, the online retailer
Amazon surprised everyone with the announcement that it had purchased
Killer Instinct developer
Double Helix. This led many to question what that would mean for the free-to-play Xbox One game and its ongoing support. Nothing to worry about fans, according to the big M (Microsoft), Microsoft Studio executive
Phil Spencer assured fans by stating that the company is prepared to handle the transition.
Spencer went on to say that the Killer Instinct franchise -owned by Microsoft- will continue, because the series is something that he believes in.
The reasoning behind Amazon's purchase of Double Helix remain a mystery but one thing is for sure and that's that Amazon acquired a non-indie developer and who knows what they plan to do with them.
